Hole Finding
In some applications the task is for the vision system to find holes very accurately. This system performs the task using a novel combination of laser triangulation and greyscale area analysis. Using a custom sensor, incorporating a high resolution digital camera, structured and unstructured illumination, together with advanced image processing algorithms has resulted in a measurement system which has excellent accuracy and repeatability.
The image processing software goes through functions to perform a measurement. Since the analysis of the laser image is used in the analysis of the greyscale image, both images have to be acquired with the sensor in the same position relative to the work piece. The screenshots below show the original greyscale image and result of the functions the software follows to reach a measurement.
