META STRENGTHENS MANAGEMENT TEAM

Meta Vision Systems Ltd (Oxford, UK) has announced the formation of a new management team, consisting of Bob Beattie, Wolfgang Kölbl and Jonathan Moore.  Meta’s Chairman, Steve Burton, stated: “Meta is Europe’s leading manufacturer of vision systems for machine and robot welding.  With the recovery of the European market for capital goods, we feel the time is now right to strengthen the management team to build on our premier position in the industry and to allow us to improve further the products and services we provide to our customers.”

Bob Beattie, who takes over as Managing Director, first joined Meta in February 1985 following a PhD in Machine Vision from Edinburgh University.  He has previously served Meta in various positions including Software Specialist, Engineering Manager and, most recently, CTO.  During a period away from Meta, Dr Beattie founded and was MD of Integrated Sensor Systems Ltd.  Bob combines business acumen with technical leadership and holds patents in both vision and control systems.

Wolfgang Kölbl has rejoined Meta as Sales Director.  Dr Kölbl has a PhD in Nuclear Physics from Oxford University and first joined Meta in 1984.  Wolfgang has extensive industry experience both in a sales role and in leading technical and commercial positions.  He is also a patent holder for advanced welding systems.

Jonathan Moore has been appointed to the position of Technical Director.  Jonathan also joined Meta in 1985 following a first class honours degree from Christ Church College, Oxford University.  Jonathan is an internationally recognised expert in sensor controlled robot systems and has provided worldwide on-site consultancy and support.

In welcoming his appointment, Bob Beattie said “I am honoured to be given both the opportunity and responsibility to lead Meta at an exciting time in its continued development.  With over 50 years of direct industry experience in the management team and with the skill and experience of our staff, who are incredibly dedicated, I am sure we can move forward with great optimism and confidence.”

These changes have provided the opportunity for Mike Wilson to move on to a new venture.  Mike will be continuing as a Non-Executive Director of Meta to ensure his experience is not lost to the company.
