Many robotic welding applications, especially in the auto industry, involve making a series of short welds. For these, real time tracking is not necessary. However, it is important to begin each weld in the correct place. Meta’s Laser Pilot MTF is a Seam Finder and provides a simple solution for this type of job. Using a standard interface to the robot controller, the MTF finds the joint quickly and corrects the robot position. The weld is then initiated and completed in the usual way.
