Vistaweld
The VistaWeld system is a tracking system that searches for, finds and tracks weld joints and weld seams using optical triangulation. It provides a reliable non-contact method for controlling the position of welding torches and ultrasonic test probes. Benefits of laser seam tracking include increased productivity and improved quality.
Investment Benefits
- Improved weld quality
- Reduced set-up time
- Increased productivity
- Decreased scrap rates
- Reduced skill requirements
- Reduced maintenance
Typical Applications
- Longitudinal and spiral pipe mills
- Wind turbine columns
- Heavy wall-thickness vessels
- Pressure vessels stiffeners
- Panel lines and other shipbuilding applications
The VistaWeld controller continuously updates the colour LCD screen. The display area is divided into several different windows, Which show the following information:
- The sensor signal from VistaWeld sensor
- The current slide position
- The current system status
The information on the screen allows the operator to see at a glance what the system is doing. The operator uses the function keys on the industrial keyboard to
interact with the VistaWeld system as necessary, for example, when changing the
system tracking sensitivity. Normal system operation is through the system pendant
that is also part of the OCU. Starting system operation is via the START push button
on the OCU. Other functions available on the pendant include:
- Auto/ Manual mode switching
- Increasing/decreasing auto mode offsets
- Manual operation of the motorised slides via the pendant joystick
- Laser safety enable—Laser on/laser off keyswitch
- Emergency stop switch
The VistaWeld system is designed to provide many years of trouble free operation.
In addition to the basic features described above, the VistaWeld system can be
supplied with various additional options offering additional productivity and quality
benefits. These include:
- Advanced data logging.
- Closed loop welding parameter control with Lincoln NA3 and NA4 SAW wire feed
controllers.
- Adaptive fill (control of welding parameters, voltage, wire feed speed or current and travel speed, based on weld joint parameters measured by the VistaWeld sensor).
